We pick up where issue 28 left off with Hawkman telling the JLA that he needs there help. By this time the JLA has taken out all of the Milestone heroes and tells Hawkman that Shadow Thief should not be too much of a problem to handle. We find out though, that he has gained a new source of powers and is much more powerful.

Amazing Spider-Man #581
The return of the Molten Man, but otherwise a really blah issue. This book needs a reboot. 2 out of 5 Spider-Villains.
Batman and the Outsiders #14
Nice story, good artwork, and the beginning of a new mission for the team. Also, the return of Azrael ?! 3 out of 5 Bat-Villains

Batgirl rushes to save Oracle from an assassination attempt by David Cain. Great book, wish Batgirl had a regular title again. 4 out of 5 Bat-Villains.
Brave and the Bold #19
The Phantom Stranger and Green Lantern team up to stop the destruction of a planet and possibly much more. Interesting issue. 3 out of 5 Green Lanterns.

I have hated most of the post OMD stories, but this one was fun. Great new take on an old villain.
3 out of 5 Spider-Villains.
Avengers The Initiative #18
A lot of Skrull reveals and a well told Secret Invasion Tie In. 4 out of 5 New Avengers.
Final Crisis Rage of the Red Lanterns #1
Awesome story introducing not one but two new colors of Lanterns. Great artwork as well. 5 out of 5 Green Lanterns.

Had a chance to go to the 1st Windy City Comicon yesterday. It was held at 3656 N Halsted in Chicago. Overall not a bad show, but it definitely has a lot of room to improve. I liked the set up in the basketball court which had a nice open feel to the show. On the downside there was a severe lack of Bronze Age and older comics. This may have had something to do with the fact that there were only 8 comic vendors along with 2 or 3 toy/apparel vendors. Most of the comic vendors appeared to only have "hot" comics on there back walls and $1 books in their back issues boxes, which mostly contained books from the past year. The Artist’s Alley section took up the middle of the floor and took up most of the space in the room. They also had a lot of space dedicated to heroclix and magic tournament tables. Overall I would give it a 3 out of 5 X-Men. I am hoping this con becomes bigger and better as the Chicago area needs another con besides Wizard World.
