Disney today unveiled the character sketch and description for the Red Queen and others  from the upcoming Alice In Wonderland by Tim Burton. It arrives in theatres March 5th.

Here’s the official character synopsis from Disney…

IRACEBETH, THE RED QUEEN (Helena Bonham Carter) is the tyrannical monarch of Underland. With her oversized head, fiery temper and propensity to scream for people’s heads to be chopped off, she rules her subjects through fear. “She’s got emotional problems,” says Bonham Carter. “It takes nothing, practically, for her to lose her temper. Her tantrums are that of a two-year-old.” Her younger sibling, the White Queen, has designs on the throne and crown that Iracebeth once stole from her.

We were lucky enough to see an advance screening of the film which opens in wide release February 6th. Henry Sellick has directed both the Nightmare Before Christmas and James and the Giant Peach so he knows his way around stop animation filming.  Usually 3-D movies have only a few 3-D effects and most are lackluster or just some random thing popping out at you. This movie is designed to be seen in 3-D as the entire film and not just some stunt work. As such it is a much better 3-D experience and is without a doubt the best 3-D film I have ever seen. (This even includes Nightmare Before Christmas).

Heath Ledger Joker Playing Card

  These were reportedly left all over the streets of Chicago after filming was done. It sold for $3500 and I know realize that I should have been hanging out downtown during the filming.

Luke Skywalker’s Lightsaber sold at auction yesterday for $200,000. Add in the buyer’s premium of 20 % and it comes out to $240,000. It was one of a number of movie and television items that were auctioned off by the Profiles in History Auction House. I have some other notable sales below as well as a part 2 to of more items coming out in a little bit.

Wolverine’s Black Leather Outfit from X-Men

  This only went for $75,000.
