Written by Geoff Johns; Art and cover by Ivan Reis and Oclair Albert
We begin right where issue 5 left off, with Hal Jordan and Barry Allen being chased by Black Rings as the Color Corps battle the Black Lanterns and the newly turned heroes. As The Flash and Green Lantern try to avoid the rings, they are attacked by Green Arrow and Impulse telling them to stop fighting since the resurrected heroes belong to Nekron.
The Flash has an idea and tells Green Lantern to grab on as he propels them two seconds into the future confusing the rings and causing them to lose their connection. We then cut over to The Atom and Mera as they battle Jean Loring inside a Black Lantern ring. As they do Deadman possesses Jean and lets the two heroes know that every Black Lantern in the Universe is headed towards Earth. Atom and Mera escape the ring, as we see GL Jon Stewart being chased by an entire planet of Black Lanterns as they head toward Earth. Atom and Mera emerge from Wonder Woman’s BL ring and join the battle. We then find out from Ganthet that they need more people wielding the light to take on Nekron. Ganthet then replicates Hal Jordan’s green ring and becomes a Green Lantern himself in order to join the fight. He then tells the other members of the color corps that he has activated the replication sequence in each of their rings and they will find worthy recipients. These rings only last for 24 hours, and the blue ring of hope finds Barry Allen right away and converts him into a Blue Lantern. We then see the orange ring arrive and take over Lex Luthor as he was battling all of the people he had wronged and killed. We then move to the Scarecrow, who becomes the newest member of the Sinestro Corps. As the heroes continue to battle the Black Lanterns, The Atom is found by the Indigo ring and becomes a member of the tribe. At that same time, Mera, who is fighting BL Wonder Woman, gets possessed by the red ring of rage. A Star Sapphire ring tries to attach itself to Wonder Woman and eventually succeeds in overcoming the black ring turning Wonder Woman into a Star Sapphire. We then see Barry Allen tell Hal Jordan not to worry, all will be well as the new members of the color corps : Blue Lantern Flash, Star Sapphire Wonder Woman, Agent Orange Lex Luthor, Sinestro Corpsman Scarecrow, Red Lantern Mera and Indigo Tribe Member The Atom spring into action. The pacing of this issue was great. There was a frenetic undertone to the entire issue that played out nicely into the final reveal of the new lantern members. The artwork was sharp and clear, with an incredible splash page to end the issue. Overall this issue gets 6 out of 6 new corps members and you should definitely
Put It On The Stack.
