We start the issue out with the two members of Firestorm discussing the status of their relationship and the suggestion by Gen that maybe they should not be Firestorm anymore. As she says this their JLA communicator goes off. The scene then cuts to a huge battle between Green Lantern , The Flash and the Black Lantern Justice League. All of the Black Lanterns are trying to elicit different emotions from the two heroes, as it appears this is the way in which they can power up. The Flash grabs Black Lantern Firestorm’s ring during the battle and yanks it off of his body.

We then find out that the rings have formed roots into the bodies of those they possess and reform the body. The Flash then asks if Green Lantern has any ideas and he says not at the moment as he battles Black Lantern Hawkman. The Atom then appears out of nowhere and hits BL Hawkman as he explains that the black rings are made of microscopic wormholes that are channeling energy somewhere. We then move to the JLA satellite as Firestorm investigates the signal they received. We find out that Aquaman’s code was used. A TV screen behind Firestorm reveals Black Lanterns have risen across various cities and are causing havoc. Then the TV signal is lost for all the screens. Mera jumps out of the shadows and tries to attack Firestorm. After a quick recap of what has happened she tells Firestorm that the dead have risen and can sense emotions and that is how they attack. We then move back to the battle as Ralph Dibney tries to get the Atom to feel emotion over what Jean Loring did to Sue Dibney. He succeeds in getting him to feel compassion. As BL Sue Dibney prepares to kill him, the Indigo Lanterns arrive and destroy her. The Indigo Tribe then takes out and severs the connection between the rings and the BL Justice League destroying them all. The Tribe teleports everyone to the JLA satellite, where they explain the origin of light throughout the universe and how white light originally was all there was until the darkness splintered it. We also find out that the Indigo Tribe maintains compassion. We then find out that the way to destroy the Black Lanterns is by combining several different ring lights, which then allows them to be conventionally destroyed. (White Lantern Hal Jordan is now almost a sure thing.) The more lights working together, the more powerful the effect. The Tribe then tells Hal Jordan that they need his help in getting the other Lantern colors to work together to replicate the white light. As he is about to leave, the Black Lantern Justice League attacks again. Before the Indigo Tribe can teleport everyone out, BL Firestorm grabs Firestorm and pulls Gen out of Firestorm and absorbs Jason into him as they become the new BL Firestorm. He then turns Gen into table salt and kills her as Jason is forced to watch, trapped in his head. Then more Black Lantern rings arrive, bringing back the villains that the JLA have on board the satellite. This brings back Alexander Luthor of Earth 3, John Munroe, Maxwell Lord, Arthur Light, Crystal Frost and John Ravenhair.

The artwork in the issue was good for the most part. They were one or two sequences, where the action was a little hard to figure out at first, but overall the issue looked great. The writing was stellar as it has been so far throughout the series. We get a teaser that next issue the Black Lanterns will be at 100 percent power. Overall this issue gets 4 out of 5 stars and you should

Put It on the Stack.
