Written by Grant Morrison: Art and Cover by Frank Quitely

We start this issue off with a huge action sequence as the new Dynamic Duo take out the Toad and his henchmen in their new flying Batmobile.

The new Batmobile was designed by Damian and has some interesting features, such as the giant poles that it shoots out to stop the Toad and his gang. It also has some type of claws or tractor beam that allows it to pick up vehicles,as Batman and Robin dump the car in the river. We then see Toad in his cell, while Dick Grayson comes to grips with having to be Batman. We then cut back to the police station as Commissioner Gordon decides to give the Bat-Signal another try. With that, we get a shot of Batman and Robin jumping down to the rooftop from the new Batmobile. Back to the front of police headquarters and a man on fire shows up asking for help. As the officers approach he grabs them and burns them. We then meet Pyg, as he forcibly transforms one of the henchmen that escaped at the beginning of the issue into one of his deformed dolls and on the last page promises to do the same to the man’s daughter. The artwork was spectacular in this issue. Quitely captures the grittiness of Gotham and the subtlety of the facial expressions of the characters. Morrison’s writing is fun and the pacing is very quick. Overall this book earns 4 out of 5 Batmen.
