Dark Avengers #2 Review Spoilers

We pick up issue 2 with a slight back story on how Morganna La Fey went back in time and was going to kill a younger Dr. Doom but decided not too. We then see Norman Osborne rallying the new troops of HAMMER with a pep talk about how they are the first members of the group. Back to Latveria as Morgana attacks Dr. Doom as he arrvies with HAMMER agents to reclaim his country.
Morganna unleashes a bunch of dark magic, calling forth a slew of demonesque creatures to attack the agents and to bring her Doom. We go back to Avengers tower; where the Dark Avengers are being told by Osborne that none of them are to talk to the press again ever or they will be locked away. Ares is the only exception and he does not feel the need to talk to the press. Osborne then tells them that they should get to know one another with no ego clashes or fights. Back to Latveria where Morganna overcomes Doom and captures him. Osborne is given an update from the HAMMER agents that are there and decides this is the first mission for his team. Morganna is about to kill Doom with a sacrificial knife when the Avengers arrive. Osborne tells her to surrender and leave or face the consequences. She refuses so he unleashes the Sentry who rips her head off. The Sentry then asks if that was a good thing to do and Osborne tells him yes it was. A couple of panels later the Sentry says something is wrong and explodes. Morganna stands in the spot where he was and she then takes over Venom and has him eat Ares as the rest of the team is attacked by her demons. Overall a nice second issue. So far this is the most interesting of the Avengers books since Dark Reign. Bendis does not waste a lot of time with this book and instead gets right into the action . Deodato’s art is crisp , and the coloring while a little dark but fits this issue well. This book earns 4 out of 5 New Avengers. Put It On The Stack.
